Inspired by Penhaligon's the Tragedy of Lord George is a sophisticated perfume oil that channels noble elegance with a subtle edge. Created as part of Penhaligon’s Portraits collection in 2016, this refined woody-oriental fragrance radiates warm, timeless aristocracy with a touch of hidden playfulness. At its heart, this fragrance presents a warm boozy character, combined with clean barbershop freshness and a deep, resinous tonka-ambrox base, delivering an aura of dignified masculine charm rooted in rich tradition.

This fragrance opens with the distinct warmth of brandy, intertwined with the crisp, familiar scent of shaving soap, immediately showcasing an image of refined masculinity. As it evolves, the creamy tonka bean heart emerges, enveloping the wearer in a soft, slightly sweet embrace that balances the opening notes. In its final evolution, ambrox lends a modern, ambery-woody depth, creating a long-lasting, elegant trail that leaves an impression of polished sophistication and subtle sensuality.

Inspired by Penhaligon's the Tragedy of Lord George perfume oil is perfect for those inclined towards a masculine, aristocratic scent. Its dignified profile suits formal and evening occasions, especially in the colder seasons when its warm, comforting sophistication can be fully appreciated. With longevity lasting 8-10 hours and a strong projection, it maintains its presence without overwhelming. This perfume oil is ideal for anyone seeking a gentlemanly scent with a modern twist, offering a unique blend of tradition and discreet allure.

Perfume oils frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I apply perfume oil?

Inspired by Penhaligon's the Tragedy of Lord George is designed to be applied directly and precisely using the roll-on applicator. Apply a small amount to pulse points such as the wrists, neck or behind the ears. Because there is no need to spray a cloud of fragrance, it is easy to control exactly where and how much you apply, making perfume oil convenient for work, travelling, the gym or topping up during the day.

How much perfume oil should I apply?

Start with a small amount of Inspired by Penhaligon's the Tragedy of Lord George. Roll a little onto one or two pulse points, allow the fragrance to settle and add more if you prefer. Perfume oil sits closer to the body than an alcohol-based spray, so the aim is not necessarily to fill the room. It creates a more personal scent bubble that becomes noticeable as you move and people come closer.

How is perfume oil different from a perfume spray?

Inspired by Penhaligon's the Tragedy of Lord George is a concentrated, alcohol-free perfume oil designed for precise roll-on application. Perfume oil sits closer to the skin and evaporates more slowly, while Arabian perfumes use perfumer's alcohol to disperse fragrance into the surrounding air. At Zamoori, perfume oil based sprays are hand-prepared at extrait concentration which means a minimum of 30% oil is used in the formula, compared 5-15% used in designer parfums. Neither format is automatically better; they simply provide different ways to enjoy fragrance.

Can I layer perfume oil with a perfume spray?

Yes. Inspired by Penhaligon's the Tragedy of Lord George can be worn on its own or layered with a fragrance spray, or another oil if you enjoy combining formats to create a bespoke scent profile. Apply the perfume oil precisely to pulse points and use the spray separately. This combines the closer-wearing character of perfume oil with the wider fragrance dispersion of a spray, whether you choose a matching fragrance or another scent you enjoy.

How should I store perfume oil?

Keep Inspired by Penhaligon's the Tragedy of Lord George somewhere cool, dry and away from direct sunlight or excessive heat. A drawer, cupboard or fragrance cabinet is ideal. Avoid regularly leaving perfume oil in hot cars, on sunny windowsills or close to radiators. Keep the cap secure to protect the oil from unnecessary heat and light between uses.
